With the Bruckmann 50, Mark Ellis redefined the motorsailer genre by bringing together solid 9 knot performance under both sail and power. RAZZ M’ TAZZ has the comfort of a trawler, with below deck mahogany joiner work and white bulkheads in the Herreshoff style. The inside pilothouse helm offers 360° visibility and protection in any weather, and her single-level cockpit and salon make a huge area to entertain and relax.
The outside helm has the sail controls close at hand. She is rigged for shorthanded sailing, with Leisure Furl boom, electric winches and roller furling headsail.
RAZZ M’ TAZZ has been thoughtfully updated by her long-term knowledgeable owners. She is a balanced, swift bluewater sailing vessel with the advantage of excellent speed under power and amenities for comfort and luxury rarely found in a sailboat.

RAZZ M’ TAZZ has a two-stateroom, two-head, plus library/den, pilothouse layout.
From the very spacious cockpit, a walk-through main cabin door welcomes you into the pilothouse. When this full-height sliding door is opened, these adjoining areas become one large bright indoor/outdoor entertaining space. Once inside the pilothouse, there is a U-shaped dinette to port (which converts to a double berth) and two built-in barrel chairs and a fixed helm chair to starboard. Interior cushions are Ultrasuede.
The inside steering station is fully functional, complete with built-in electronics and a large chart table encompassed by the rich mahogany woodwork found throughout the yacht. Navigating in adverse weather conditions is done in complete comfort and security. The engine room is accessed via a large floorboard hatch, as well as from the hinged stairs leading to the lower level.
Forward, down three steps, there is a huge wrap-around galley to port that features all of the usual modern conveniences and a large pantry.
Opposite the galley is the library/den. This area is very versatile, offering a large china cabinet, writing/computer desk, sofa, bar, media center, bookshelves and multiple magazine racks. The large sofa converts into a double berth for additional guests. The centerline food pantry also houses the washer/dryer unit in its base. The galley and library share the natural light offered by the pilothouse windows above, creating one large, open space.
Moving forward, to starboard there is a guest cabin with a double berth, hanging locker and night table. To port is the guest head that shares a large adjoining shower unit with the master head. The master cabin, forward, features an oversized V-berth with removable filler piece and storage under, a private head, built-in storage drawers, airliner-style overhead lockers, a mirrored makeup table and bench and a spacious hanging locker.
The interior is finished in the classic Herreshoff style, featuring white panels trimmed with satin-varnished wood, illustrating the fine joinery and quality of craftsmanship characteristic of her build. There is generous cabinet storage space throughout and an abundance of natural light, and for privacy, custom hidden shades in the main cabin and covers for all portholes.
The design criteria of the Bruckmann 50 was to develop a boat that performs well under both power and sail. This was a challenge that was successfully accomplished and has bridged a new era in large motor-sailing efficiency. The hull shape benefits from a long waterline and a balanced distribution of underwater volume. This, combined with a long, flat run aft enables the yacht to enjoy high speeds under sail and power. The hull and deck are cored, which adds strength and saves weight, thus enhancing performance.
RAZZ M’ TAZZ is Hull #1 of the Series and she has far exceeded the expectations of her designers and owners. She is the perfect blend of power and sail, offering the best of both worlds. She combines the amenities and lifestyle normally associated with a trawler, with the safety, stability and efficiency of a performance cruising sailboat. From a sail-handling perspective, she is easily managed. The Leisure Furl (in-boom) main, power winches, steering and navigation systems are controlled by the push of a button. The 140 hp turbo boost engine, with full dual-engine controls at both stations, will get the boat through the worst of conditions safely and comfortably. When motorsailing, hull speeds averaging between 9 - 10 knots are easily realized. An 80 kW bow thruster aids when maneuvering in tight quarters. Cruising speeds of 7.5 to 8.0 knots are easily obtained through a wide range of sea conditions and with a very low noise level and fuel consumption of 2.3 to 2.8 gph.
RAZZ M’ TAZZ distinguishes herself from her sisterships by the greater use of mahogany interior trim throughout the boat, teak handrails, increased sail area and -- compliments of her low-profile Yanmar engine, has a lower pilothouse profile.
