Facing forward toward the bow, the main salon consists of two settees covered in a blue fabric. On the starboard side, forward of the galley, the settee has ample storage, behind the cushions. There are cabinets on either side of an open book area. Further toward the bow, opposite the forward head, is a shelf and drawers with storage below. The port settee also has a storage area behind the cushions and cabinets and a book storage area above. There is also a small storage area toward the bow, below the TV, under the cushion which also contains the battery for the bow thruster. Under each settee the area is occupied by a 40 gallon diesel fuel tank. On the port side is a 32 inch TV with an Omni-directional mount which can extend and rotate for viewing. The TV wiring is capable of receiving both cable and Direct TV reception through the Follow-Me Satellite antenna mounted on the stern with a hand held control. The center of the salon, below the floor, is a 160 gallon water tank. The center table opens, giving easy access, from either settee and has two storage compartments. The oil lamp is movable to a hanger just above the table for enjoyable ambiance. Adjustable reading lamps are available on both sides of the salon. There are five opening ports and two hatches all with screens for good ventilation.
Galley, Starboard Side
The Galley on Windsong, has a deep refrigerator/ freezer to the left side of the stove, with a bottom drain, so that any melting ice water can be pumped out to the sink. Over the stove is a work area platform which slides down in back of the stove. The three burner stove and oven uses propane and there is a separate control and safety shut off which allows the outboard propane tanks to be electrically controlled in the Galley. There are double stainless sinks and a new extendable faucet with hot and cold filtered water. Above and below the sinks are storage areas and to the right are drawers. To the left of the sink are sliding closets for plate, glasses and silverware storage and also there is a deep storage area to the left of the sinks as a dry pantry. Above the sink area is a new high intensity LED optional red night or natural light fixture. There is an opening port with a screen above the galley and stove area for good ventilation To the left of the refrigerator are the controls for the stove’s propane system and also the Freedom Remote Panel for the Freedom Heart 25 charger/inverter.
Master Cabin with Queen Size Berth
The master aft berth is a queen size, memory foam, walk-around berth with storage below.The starboard side storage cabinets and night time shelf with a night light for reading. Also on the starboard side is the entrance to the aft head with stand up shower, which has a convenient shower seat. On the port side are more storage cabinets and a divided hanging locker with louvered doors. The entrance to the engine room is in the walkway at the foot of the berth. There are two stainless steel opening ports and a new hatch above the bed all with screens for good ventilation. There are also two ports at the head of the bed as well.
Aft Head Starboard Side
The aft head is located on the starboard side with a private entrance from the master bedroom suite. There is a separate stand up shower with a seat within. Storage is behind the head, above and below the sink. There is a Y-valve which allows head waste to be directed overboard or to a 15 gallon expandable neoprene bag. A separate pump out line leads to a deck fixture. Above the mirror are high intensity LED optional red night or natural light fixture. There is one stainless steel opening port with a screen for good ventilation.
The V-berth consists of two separate memory foam mattresses. There are two draws below, which can be used to store life preservers or additional items. The mattresses can be removed to open up the area below the platform, which is used for sail storage, the additional 125 feet of main chain rode (led from the chain locker, on the deck, above) and to service the bow thruster electric motor (if ever needed). There are shelves on either side of the V-berth for storage of pick-up poles or lines. On the port side are cabinets for additional storage and on the Starboard side are a shelf and a dual hanging locker. Above the V berth is an opening hatch and on either side opening ports, all with screens, for good ventilation. The additional chain and nylon rode for the second anchor is stored just forward of the V-berth in ventilated storage area. There is a separate door to the forward head from the V-berth and the entire V-berth can be sealed off for privacy with a door to the main salon. The head can be accessed from the main salon without disturbing the V-berth.
Forward Head, Port Side
The forward head compartment is next to the V-berth and has a combination faucet and hand held shower and storage compartments. A Y-valve allows for directing the flow from the head to a 25 gallon on board storage tank or to be led overboard through a separate macerator pump. The shower pan allows for a separate sump pump to lead gray water overboard. A shower curtain (not presently on board) allows for the shower water to be contained over the shower pan. Above the mirror is a new high intensity LED optional night red or natural light fixture. There is a new stainless steel opening port with a screen for good ventilation. There is a separate door to the forward head from the V-berth and the entire. A separate line leads to deck for pump-out.
All of the controls of Windsong including the setting of sails can be done from the helm station. The instrument module contains all Raymarine sea-talk instruments connected through a sea talk interface. The Raymarine E-120 Multifunction Display (Radar, Chart, Depth, AIS 250, instruments, etc., etc.) can be seen with the Raymarine Smart Pilot, ST6002 (on the left side), which controls the Raymarine SG3 auto-pilot (located below deck). The Bow Thruster controls are on the right of the e-120 MFD in the large Nav-Pod. The Anchor Windlass Controls (both power up and down) and the Remote COMMANDMIC III Microphone for the IC-M504 VHF receiver (located at navigation station, below deck) can be seen to the left and the right of the Westerbeek Engine Control cluster. All vital instruments are at eye level to the Captain’s helm seat. There are also foot controls for the windlass at the bow. The helm has a folding destroyer wheel which allows an uncluttered pass through of the cockpit when not underway. In addition, a Raymarine ST60+ control cluster of instruments are located just above the hatch which can be seen from the helm. This consists of the Depth, Wind & Close Hauled Wind Instrument, and Speed. There are two independent speed meters and two depth sounders on Windsong wired to the respective recording devices. For example, the ST60+ depth and speed through hull indicators are located mid boat hull and are connected to the ST+60 depth and speed instruments. The DSM 300 recording device (Speed and echo sounding device for depth finding and fish finding) is located toward the bow and is connected to the E-120 MFD. This arrangement provides back-up in case one sensor fails.
Engine Compartment, Fuel System and Bilge Pumps
A Westerbeke 58 hp engine is connected to a Borg-Warner velvet drive hydraulic marine transmission and a Walter V-drive which turns a shaft through a PSS seal, attached to a 20” three blade Max prop. On the starboard side of the compartment is a dual Racor filter manifold which allows for changing filters while underway. The fuel system consists of two, 40 gallon stainless tanks located under the port and starboard settees in the main salon. The fuel is fed through a manifold located forward of the engine compartment which allows for the selection of each tank separately, or to an off position. The diesel fuel then goes to a fuel polishing system consisting of an Algae-X bacteria destroyer and then to the 2 micron Racor filters before entering the final 2 micron filter on the engine, with excess fuel going back to the tanks. This system allows for the selection of an additional 12 volt fuel pump so the fuel can be polished separately of the running of the engine, while at a slip. There is also a remote Oil filter which positions the filter near the front of the engine for clean and effortless changing of the filter. Also is a Jabsco emergency, engine operated, electric clutch pump system which allows for over 30 gallons per minute of bilge pumping, in case of accidental hull puncture or through hull failure. An automatic bilge pump which can be activated from a switch to the right of the sink in the galley. There is another bilge pump which can be operated form the cockpit and an additional high volume (one gallon per lever movement) hand operated bilge pump located under the seat of the navigation station. In total there are 4 separate bilge pumps which should take care of any emergency until repairs can be made. A new temperature operated gas (non-Halon) operated fire extinguisher is on the wall of the engine compartment.
